Heritage Committee
The City of Bowie's long and diverse heritage begins in the 17th century, and continues through today - the past is present in its historic buildings and museums, in its scenic vistas, and along its public byways and scenic trails. Colonial governors, railroad workers, slaves and tenant farmers, champion Thoroughbred racehorses, and modern families of today all contribute to the City of Bowie story. The City's commitment to preserving its history is evidenced by its many historic properties and its creation of a Heritage Committee.
The Heritage Committee engages in activities relating to the heritage of Bowie and the surrounding area, including activities relating to the conservation, preservation and beautification of the City and the properties which are part of the City's heritage.
Each year, the Committee helps to plan Bowie's Heritage Day, which is held in May.
The Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Belair Mansion. The public is invited to attend any committee meeting. Please contact Pam Williams, staff liaison to the Committee, at 301-809-3089 or email to confirm meeting dates and locations.
