Community Services

The Department of Community Services was created on July 1, 1996. In order to provide a more streamlined and cost effective services to the residents of the City, it was formed by the merger of the Department of Public Services and Facilities and the Department of Human Resources.

The Department focuses on three main areas; Recreation, including historic properties, buildings and grounds; Human Services; and Neighborhood preservation activities.

This is one of the City departments that helps make Bowie a beautiful and exciting place to live.

City buildings, parks and stormwater management areas are maintained by this department, through the Parks and Grounds Division. The operations are housed in a new, green-friendly building located next to Allen Pond Park.
