Call 301-809-3033 about group availability and to be put on a waiting list. Other groups are developed as the need arises and there is sufficient interest from the community. All group participants, both within the corporate limits of the City of Bowie, and in the County, are charged fees. Group fees are specific to a particular group.

"Active Parenting" groups for parents are offered in the fall and the spring, with additional groups held based on the need in the community and the availability of staff. This is a popular, educational group for parents with children of different ages, toddlers, 6 to 12 year olds, and teens. The focus is on learning practical parenting skills to develop self-esteem, cooperation and responsibility in children. Parents learn to improve communication with their children and practice new approaches to discipline. Each group lasts for eight sessions with a cost of $105 for the series.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) groups are offered in the fall and the spring. This program consists of two simultaneous groups that focus on the "art of survival" when a child has a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, with or without hyperactivity - one group is for parents and a separate group is held for their child. Adults learn about ADHD, new ways to help their child, and how the disorder in a child can affect the whole family. The children's group is a fun, interactive hour and a half that focuses on the improvement of social skills. The ADHD group has eight sessions with a $105 fee for the entire series.

Girls Count! is a program that offers groups for teen and pre-teen girls to assist them in exploring and learning how to nurture their true selves, share ideas about everyday issues, and learn about making important choices and decisions. Each eight-week session focuses on a theme such as self-image, assertiveness, decision-making, peer pressures, etc. This is a fun, interactive, after-school group with snacks provided. The cost per eight-week session is $120 *(reduced fee for eligible girls).

Social Skills For Elementary Age Children - Ages 8 -10 is a small interactive group for fourth and fifth graders that will help them navigate the sometimes complex skills required for developing positive relationships. Fee $60/4 weeks.

"My Family and Me" - Separation/Divorce Group are two simultaneous groups offered to help parents and their children ages 6 1/2 to 11, through the separation and/or divorce process. One of the parents meets each with other parents while the children meet in a separate room. Fee $105/7weeks.

Happy Moms, Healthy Babies – Teen mothers (age 17-22) and their babies (up to 18 months old) meet weekly to discuss the joys and the difficulties of motherhood. Join other young women in similar situations to share knowledge and provide support. Fee $90*/6 weeks. *(reduced fee for eligible young moms)
