Senior Transporation
The City of Bowie offers curb-to-curb transportation for Bowie seniors age 55 and older to the Senior Center, to medical appointments, to scheduled shopping locations, and to senior clubs and other locations on a priority basis.
Transportation is offered only within the Bowie city limits.
• Daily transportation to the Center is offered
between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. with return home at 2:00 p.m.
• Curb-to-curb transportation for nonsenior Bowie residents with disabilities
for medical appointments and other trips within the City limits.
• Meals for homebound are delivered
weekdays to Seniors upon request to the Prince George’s County Department of Family Services by calling
301-265-8450.
• A lift-equipped van is available for those in need. Please, let staff know if
lift is necessary when making transportation appointment.
• Donation of 50 cents each ride.
• Call 301-809-2324 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., 24 hours in advance to schedule transportation.
Shopping Days:
Mondays: Pin Oak Village shoppers:
Bus picks up at POV at 10:30 a.m. and
returns to POV at 12:45 p.m.
Tuesdays: Kohl's, Target, Wal-Mart:
Shuttle leaves Senior Center at 10, 11,
12, and returns only at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: Kohl's, Target, Wal-Mart:
Shuttle leaves Senior Center at 10, 11,
12, and returns only at 1:00 p.m.
Thursdays: All Bowie Food stores:
Pickup from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. to Giant
or Safeway and return at 12:00 noon to
home.
Fridays: Bowie Town Center shuttle:
Shuttle leaves Senior Center at 10, 11,
12 and returns only at 1:00 p.m.
Shoppers are to purchase only what they
can safely carry in two shopping bags.
Drivers will assist with packages on/off
the bus only.
Medical and General Appointments:
• Medical appointments are on a
first come, first serve basis.
Medical appointments have
priority over other appointments.
• Schedule appointments between 10
a.m. thru 11:30 a.m. Monday thru
Friday.
• Appointments are scheduled for
approximately 1 hour duration.
• Request office staff to call Senior
Center when ready to return home.
• Drivers are not to enter any
residences. Family members or
escorts are required to bring the
wheelchair occupant to the curb,
and are to accompany the bus if
the wheelchair occupant is unable
to operate the chair at the
destinations.
• Please call the Senior Center to
cancel transportation if your
doctor’s appointment has been cancelled.
