Ice Arena
The newly renovated City of Bowie Ice Arena, located at 3330 Northview Drive in Bowie, is a year round ice skating facility. The Ice Arena is open for skating July through April of every year. The facility closes for maintenance during the months of May and June. During May and June the Ice Arena is available for dry-floor activities. The Bowie Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Home Show on the first Saturday of June (in conjunction with the City’s Bowiefest in the park).
Bowie Ice Arena offers ice skating opportunities for all ages and levels. Discounts are available for City of Bowie residents as well as groups and families (please call for details).

In addition to the public skating sessions, the Ice Arena offers group and private lessons for skaters as young as 18 months old through adults. Please see the lesson information brochure below for class and registration information.

During July and August the Ice Arena holds skating camps for children as young as 3 years of age through 15 years of age. Skaters enjoy on-ice instruction, on-ice games/music, off-ice games and crafts. Campers perform in a show at the end of the week for the parents. Don’t let your child miss out on this cool summer fun. Registration begins on March 1 every year and space is limited. For more information please call the Arena.
Bowie Ice Arena is home to the Bowie Hockey Club and the Bowie Figure Skating Club. Both of these clubs are non-profit organizations that are dedicated to developing youth hockey and figure skating in the Bowie area. In addition to these clubs the Ice Arena is also the home rink for the Bowie High School Ice Dogs and the Washington Junior Nationals hockey team.
The Bowie Hockey Club offers instructional, recreational and travel hockey. The BHC holds two annual tournaments during the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January and the President’s Day weekend in February. The Bowie Figure Skating Club offers ice time for skaters of all levels, both amateur and professional. The Bowie High School Ice Dogs practice on Wednesday afternoons from September through February and play home games at the Ice Arena on Friday nights from November through February. Please call the Arena for the game schedule.
SNACK BAR
The Penalty Box Cafe is located in the lobby of the ice arena and is open daily. Menu items include: hot dogs, pizza, soda, slushees, nachos, pretzels, Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, muffins, Good Humor ice cream bars and variety of other food items. Stop by and check us out. Stop by our full service pro shop for all of you skating needs. Whether it is recreational skating, competitive figure skating or ice hockey - Blades of Bowie Pro Shop can help you find what you are looking for.
