Police Question

On November 8, 2005, a majority of city voters voted to support establishment the City Council voted to place the following advisory question on the November ballot regarding the establishment of a City of Bowie Police Department.

"Should the City of Bowie establish a local police department with a net approximate annual cost of $46 per $100,000 assessed home value?"

A report on the Costs/Benefits of a Bowie Police Department was prepared by City staff. Other materials on the subject have also been provided to City Council. Between now and the election on November 8, 2005, the City will undertake an education campaign to provide the voters with information which will assist them in making an informed decision on this important subject.
