APRIL ART GALLERY CHANGES AT BOWIE CITY HALL
Every month two Art Galleries at Bowie City Hall change to new artwork. In April artists also bring new artwork for the Visions of Bowie Gallery, that only features scenes of Bowie.
Currently the new artwork in the Visions of Bowie Gallery, located in the City Hall multipurpose room, includes paintings and photographs of Old Bowie, Foxhill Park, Allen Pond Park, and the Belair Stables. Artists featured are Pam Fleming, Nichelle Fullen, Margaret Gregory, Rebecca Hoffman, Dennis Holcomb, Jean Magram, Betty Penland, Gina Reininger, Marion Shipman, and Glenn Stewart.
Photographer Frank Figlozzi is the City Hall Artist of the month. He has been interested in photography since his father taught him how to develop film in trays when Figlozzi was only 10 years old. His exhibit of 22 photographs is entitled “Places” and is photographs of places that he and his wife have traveled including Ireland, Nova Scotia, and New England. The City Hall Art Gallery is located in the hallways of City Hall.
The Young Person’s Art Gallery for April features two elementary schools, Kenilworth and Highbridge, who share the same art teacher, Karen Swezy. The 16 piece gallery includes eight pieces from each school. The young artists from Kenilworth are Gabriella Rene, Abigail Boteler, Cheyenne Cohen, Jireh Wiggins, Claire Levins, Allanah Arcusa, Rebecca Geary, and Michael Bottega. The young artists from Highbridge include Camryn French, Emily McDonough, Jocelyn Allen, Amber Williams, Bethany Kuo, Alexander Flores, Anthony Raymond and LaShay Ames. The Young Person’s Art Gallery is located in the foyer of the main entrance of City Hall.
The City Hall galleries are located at City Hall, 2614 Kenhill Drive, and are open to the public City Hall hours from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturdays.
