June’s City Hall Artist is Dee Ferguson, who has been interested in photography since she received her first black and white camera from actor Morgan freeman when she was in high school. “I have loved photography ever since that day,” she said.  Ferguson, who now lives in Bowie, had the opportunity to travel around the world when she was in the military. While there, she said she took many photographs, black and white, as well as color.

Her exhibit this month features some of that photography around the world as well as beaches and places in the United States. Since moving to Maryland, Ferguson has joined many photo groups and is working on improving her photography skills.

The City Hall Gallery is located in the hallways of City Hall, 2614 Kenhill Drive, and is open to the public City Hall hours from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Saturdays. Besides the City Hall Gallery, the City of Bowie provides three other galleries at City Hall to showcase the work of local artists. For more information or to find out how to exhibit, call Annette Esterheld, Arts Specialist, at 301-575-5601 or e-mail aesterheld@cityofbowie.org.
