Community Outreach Committee Sponsors Food Drive
at the Memorial Day Parade and Bowiefest
to Support the Bowie Food Pantry

As you enjoy the Parade and Bowiefest, please think of those in the community who are going through difficult times, and assist us in helping to keep the shelves stocked at the Bowie Food Pantry. Community Outreach Committee (COC) and Food Pantry volunteers will be handing out recyclable bags (one per family, please!) at the Parade on May 29th and asking people to please fill them with non-perishable food (and other items*) to donate to the Bowie Food Pantry!

We are making it easy for you, by asking you to bring your bag of items to donate, to Bowiefest, the following week, on June 5th, between 11 am and 6 pm. (The rain date is June 6th.) As you arrive at the park, please drop off your donations at the COC booth, located next to the information booth, near the top of the path (across from the Ice Arena) that enters from the parking lot and leads down to the Amphitheater.

If you cannot stop by at Bowiefest, please take your donations of non-perishable food to the Food Pantry, 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie, MD 20715. Their hours are 9 to 11 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They may be reached at bowiefoodpantry@gmail.com or 301-262-6765. There are also collection containers at Bowie City Hall and the Bowie Senior Center.

Once you make your donation, you may keep the bag, to use for your own shopping, at Bowiefest and/or anywhere else!

Please note:

• Monetary donations may also be sent to the Food Pantry at the above address.
• Donations are tax deductible.
• Gift cards for local grocery stores are also very helpful for purchasing needed items.

*The Pantry also accepts paper goods, baby products (diapers, wipes, etc.), toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.) and school supplies, but currently the need for food is the most serious, and continues to grow.
