The Bowie City Council selected Henri Gardner to fill the remaining term of Geraldine Valentino-Smith.  Mr. Gardner will take the oath of office at the Council's next regular meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 and will serve until November 8, 2011 when the next City election will be held. 

The decision was made at the end of a Special Council Meeting in which each of the 23 candidates answered a series of questions from Councilmembers.   In announcing the selection, Mayor G. Frederick Robinson thanked all of the candidates for their interest in serving and said that Bowie was fortunate to have such a talented pool of candidates. 

The meeting is available for viewing as a video on demand. Mr. Gardner lives in the Essington neighborhood of Bowie and is Vice President of Business Development for Obverse, Inc.
