THE CITY OF BOWIE TO HOST 1st STREAM TEAM CLEAN-UP
In Conjunction with the Annual Spring
Livable Communities Clean-up Day in Prince George’s County

On Saturday, April 19th over 200 volunteers will clear local Bowie streams of trash and debris. Working at six locations, Stream Team leaders will organize volunteers for the cleanup and City staff will provide supplies. This event, which coincides with the Annual Prince George’s County Livable Communities Clean-up Day and Earth Day (April 22nd), runs from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

Those interested in volunteering can register in advance, by contacting Beth Chaisson in the City’s Planning Department (301-809-3051or email echaisson@cityofbowie.org) or they can participate at one of the stream locations listed on the following page on April 19th. Volunteers, and the parents/guardians of minor volunteers will be asked to complete a release form prior to doing any work. Forms and more information about the program are available on the City’s website (www.cityofbowie.org/green/08spring_cleanup.htm)

Senior Planner Beth Chaisson is “thrilled to have so many enthusiastic volunteers signed up to participate in the Bowie Stream Team’s first clean-up event.” She plans to organize a second clean-up in the fall around Public Lands Day. Students can earn Student Service Learning hours (http://www1.pgcps.org/studentservices/ssl.aspx?id=16522) for participating.
