P R O C L A M A T I O N
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE, MARYLAND
CONGRATULATING THE BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S SOFTBALL TEAM ON
WINNING THE
CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the CIAA is an athletic conference of 10 historically black colleges and universities, including Bowie State University; and
WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year, the Bowie State University Women’s Softball Tem has captured the 2008 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s (CIAA) Softball Championship; and
WHEREAS, Tiffany Toney, a shortstop in her Junior Year, was selected 2008 Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Annette Makle, a Softmore, was selected Most Valuable Player.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Council of the City of Bowie, Maryland that the entire Bowie State University Women’s Softball Team is congratulated for their outstanding performance in winning the 2008 CIAA Championship; and, further, the Council congratulates Bowie State President Mickey L. Burnim, Athletic Director Derek Carter, and Fred Burroughs, Women’s Softball Coach for their leadership, commitment and dedication which led the team to this outstanding accomplishment.
