SUBJECT: Leaf Collection Truck Rentals
The Department of Community Services has contacted all known truck rental firms in the area listed in the Yellow Pages in order to determine the availability of trucks suitable for rental use in accordance with our upcoming Fall leaf collection program. These trucks are needed to supplement existing City units for this program. In this regard, only one firm was found that met our specific needs to successfully complete the leaf collection program, which requires twelve each, sixteen-foot flatbed diesel-powered vehicles for this annual program. They will be used for eight weeks.
Hertz Equipment Rental has been used the past seven years for this service. Due to market demand, it is important to reserve these vehicles at this time. The cost to acquire these vehicles for this year’s program is $46,200. The current year budget has allocated $50,000 towards this project. Therefore, approval of Resolution R-48-08 is requested to waive requirements to allow for this contract award to Hertz Equipment Rental.
