FROM: David J. Deutsch, City Manager
SUBJECT: Supply of Pug Mill (WWTP) R-64-08
DATE: September 11, 2008
Legal notices were placed and bid packages were sent to selected firms for
the supply of a pug mill to be used at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
At the close of bidding at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008, one (1)
bid proposal was received from Bulk Conveyor Specialist, Inc. in the amount
of $29,845.
A pug mill is mechanical equipment that is used to effectively mix lime with sludge for compliance with State and Federal regulations. The existing pug mill is severely worn and in jeopardy of failing. Failure of the pug mill will prohibit the WWTP from running the belt press resulting in non-compliance with permit requirements. This is an unanticipated expense, however there are sufficient funds in the Waste Water Treatment Plants machinery and equipment budget.
The Public Works Department recommends that the bid proposal from Bulk Conveyor Specialist, Inc. in the amount of $29,845 be accepted.
I concur with the above recommendation to award to Bulk Conveyor Specialist,
Inc. in the amount of $29,845, and request your approval of R-64-08.
