RESOLUTION
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE, MARYLAND
ADOPTING A TRAFFIC CALMING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Bowie has an interest in providing for the safe flow
of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on City streets; and
WHEREAS, vehicular speeding on City streets is a concern of the City Council;
and
WHEREAS, the Council is interested in implementing a traffic calming program
to reduce speeds on City streets; and
WHEREAS, City staff has researched alternative traffic calming programs and
has determined that a program currently implemented by Prince George’s
County will address vehicular speeding in Bowie; and
WHEREAS, the City staff recommends that the current traffic calming program
in use by Prince George’s County be adopted by the City of Bowie.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bowie, Maryland
that the Council authorizes the City Manager to adopt and implement a traffic
calming program in substantial conformance with the current Prince George’s
County Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.
