Status Report

1.  Monday Night’s Worksession

Council may wish to bring the information you received on Pervious Concrete to the Worksession (attachments to a memorandum on Pervious Paving dated May 21, 2009).

2.  Bowie State MARC Station Preliminary Sector Plan

A copy of the Preliminary Bowie State MARC Station Sector Plan and Sectional Map Amendment is attached for Council's information.  This document is being provided to you in advance of your public hearing on July 6, 2009 to allow time for you to review the document, which just became available last Friday.  A Joint Public Hearing of the Prince George's County Planning Board and County Council is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.  Staff is also providing copies of the Plan to the Bowie Advisory Planning Board, which will hold a public hearing next Tuesday night.

3.  Leaf Collection Truck Rentals

The Department of Community Services has contacted all known truck rental firms in the area in order to determine the availability of trucks suitable for rental use in accordance with our upcoming fall leaf collection program.  These trucks are needed to supplement existing City units for this program.  In this regard, only one firm was found that met our specific needs to successfully complete the annual leaf collection program, which requires twelve16-foot flatbed diesel-powered vehicles.  They will be used for eight weeks.

Hertz Equipment Rental has been used the past eight years for this service.  Due to market demand, it is important to reserve these vehicles at this time.  The cost to acquire these vehicles for this year’s program is $46,200.  The Fiscal Year 2010 Budget has allocated $50,000 towards this project. As provided by Section 62 of the City Charter, this will serve as the required seven (7) day notice of intent to issue a purchase order to Hertz Equipment Rental for $46,200.
