PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING
BOWIE CITY HALL
On Tuesday, July 14th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at City Hall, 2614 Kenhill Drive, Bowie, Maryland, a Pre-construction Meeting will be held to discuss the new City Hall that will be located on City-owned property at the intersection of Excalibur Road and Evergreen Parkway adjacent to the storm water management pond. We expect construction to begin on this project in August 2009. This is anticipated to be an 18-month project.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide residents living in proximity to this project an overview of the construction process associated with the new City Hall. Also, residents will be provided the opportunity to ask questions regarding the construction of this facility. The City has chosen the construction firm of Manekin Construction to build this building for the City. Representatives from Manekin Construction will be in attendance at this meeting to present an overview of the construction project and to respond to any questions residents may have regarding this project.
The new City Hall will be 80,000 square feet. The 6.2-acre site where this facility is proposed is part of the Bowie Town Center and is approved for up to 140,000 square feet of office space. This facility will replace the current City Hall located at 2614 Kenhill Drive. City Hall currently provides office space for the City Manager’s Office, the Planning and Economic Development Department, the Finance Department, the Community Services Department, the Information Technology Department, the Police Department, City Council Chambers, and meeting space for City and community groups. These services will move to the new City Hall.
The City recognizes the impact this facility will have on your area and we welcome your insights and perspectives as we move forward with construction of this important project. Should you be unable to attend this meeting and wish to ask any questions regarding this project, please contact John Fitzwater, Assistant City Manager at 301-809-3075 or at jfitzwater@cityofbowie.org., or David Deutsch, City Manager at 301-809-3030.
