Status Report

1.  Fraud Hotline

The City has entered into an agreement with The Network, an independent third party company that provides hotline services, to administer an anonymous ethics and compliance hotline, commonly referred to as a fraud hotline.  This program provides employees with various methods of reporting unethical and irregular activities in the workplace through an anonymous hotline service.  Employees will have the option of contacting a live interview specialist or using a secure web-based self-reporting system.

Posters describing the anonymous hotline service will be displayed at various City facilities.  Information announcing the new hotline service, including instructions on its use, will be distributed to all City employees this Friday along with their paychecks.  “Doing What’s Right” is the theme of the posters and the material being distributed.

2.  BERAP Public Service Commission Testimony

Attached please find the revised testimony as amended by City Council.  Under “Outstanding Issues”, the section entitled “Request for Additional Information” was added.  Staff will send a copy of this testimony to the PSC on Monday if there are no further modifications by City Council.  The PSC Administrative Meeting begins at 10 a.m. on August 11th.  The City’s issue is the 20th item on an agenda of 21 items.  We do not yet have a good indication as to the time this is expected to come up.  We will inform Council when we have this information.  The meeting will be held at the William Donald Schaefer Tower, 16th Floor Meeting Room, 6 St. Paul Street, Baltimore.
