Status Report

1.  Bowie Newspaper Insert

The City's Economic Development office partnered with the Greater Bowie Chamber and The Gazette of Business & Politics to produce an insert highlighting Bowie's business and community attributes and attractions.  The insert will be in the August 19 Bowie Star and the August 20 Gazette of Business & Politics.  Circulation exceeds 40,000 readers.  Both the City and the Chamber have additional copies of the insert for use during the remainder of the year.  Copies are in your package.

2.  Senator Cardin To Hold Healthcare Discussion at Senior Center

Senator Ben Cardin is inviting local seniors, healthcare advocates and healthcare providers to attend a discussion about the new Healthcare Reform Law.  The event will take place at the Bowie Senior Center on Monday, August 30th at 12:30 p.m.  A flyer about the event is attached.

3.  Back to School Reminders

Public schools in Prince George's County open on Monday.  To focus attention on pedestrian and driver safety around schools, the Police Department is distributing a Back to School Safety Message to all schools and parent/teacher organizations in the City.  It contains reminders about stopping for school buses, cell phone use while driving, seat belts, bike helmets, and our Safe Speed program. A copy of the message is attached.
