Status Report

1.  Assessments

Please review the attached memo from the Finance Director.  In it, Mr. Patrick provides some necessary context for the remarks made by County and State officials at a recent meeting hosted by County Council Member Turner.

2.  Top City Government Website

On August 5th, the City of Bowie was awarded the “Top City Government Website Award” through Juggle.com.  Juggle.com reviewed more than 3,000 government portals and was impressed with the City’s rich information, useful services, and excellent visual design.  Along with this award, our website is featured on Juggle.com.  As a part of this feature, an interview was conducted with the City’s webmaster, Anthony Hogue.  Juggle's "Top Government Website Award" badge is now located on the City’s homepage.  The feature and interview can be accessed at

3.  Foreclosures

Enclosed is information regarding foreclosures.  The data from Maryland's Department of Housing and Community Development shows ZIP Code 20720 in the "Very High" Hot Spot category in the 2nd quarter of 2010, with 142 foreclosures.  ZIP Code 20716 is listed in the "High" Hot Spot category with 115 foreclosures.  Information is also included about the Foreclosure Mediation Program, as well as brochures for owners and tenants facing a foreclosure.
