Using Bowie Gov

There are two ways to use this tool to get answers to your questions about the City of Bowie and its services.  Here’s how it works:

1. Search our database of common questions and answers to find what you’re looking for.  You can make the search as general or as broad as you would like by selecting the category and/or using the key word feature. For example, if you want to learn more about our Recycling Program, you can select just “Recycling” from the list of categories.  All of the questions in our database related to recycling will be displayed.  If you add a keyword, such as “glass”, it will narrow the responses to only those questions or answers that specifically include the word “glass”.
   
   
2. Submit your question.
   Select the Submit a Question button to enter your question. If your question or something similar to it is in our database, the answer will be supplied. If we don’t have an answer to your question in our database, we will ask you for your email so that we can provide you with a written response. We’ll also ask you to select a category if you can provide it. That will help to automatically route the question to the appropriate staff person. Submitted questions will be answered during regular business hours. The responders are the “subject matter expert”for that particular topic. 

In addition to getting your questions about City government answered, residents can also submit a request for service using this website. Select the Service Request button on the menu to the left to request one of more than twenty services, such as a street light repair, a special pickup or a pothole repair.

Ask Bowie Gov is one of many ways that we share information.  It provides a way for residents and other visitors to our website to ask a question about the City of Bowie, at any time, whether or not City offices are open. We hope that you will find it useful and we hope that you will tell us how can we make it even better by using the feedback feature included on every answer screen.

Our knowledge database of questions and answers is based on the types of questions we now receive by telephone and email.  If you ask a question that is not in the database, but we think it is something that others may need to know, we will add it to the database.  In this way, the more this tool is used, the more helpful it will become.  

As excited as we are about this tool, it is absolutely not intended to replace the telephone.  Please continue to call us with your questions and concerns. Serving our residents is our number one goal.
