Code Compliance

As part of the City's effort to maintain the high quality of neighborhoods, the Code Compliance Officers survey the City on a regular basis to determine compliance with City Codes. The goal of the office is to work with residents and property owners to insure compliance with the Codes.

The City has a staff of four full-time and two part-time Code Compliance Officers who are charged with enforcing property standards adopted by the City Council in the City Code. They conduct curbside surveys in neighborhoods, and respond to concerns brought to their attention. The officers issue field correction notices, work with residents to find solutions to code related problems, and write municipal infractions when violations persist.

The goal of the office is to ensure the cooperation and assistance of all residents and property owners that is needed to maintain Bowie's high standards.
