District II Commander’s Appearance

District II Commander Major Blow has told staff that the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) data is not available yet for the final quarter of 2005. As a result, the County Police Department is unable to produce the year-end statistical reports that are an important part of the first of the two semiannual reports.

Major Blow has agreed to come to the Worksession, even though he will not have a written report ready. Instead, I have asked him to be prepared to at least address the following items:

· The new “beat” structure which has replaced Community Service Areas: What is the current deployment plan?

· Staffing: What is the staffing situation in District II, and how many patrol officers are assigned to Bowie?

· Crime incident update: Report requested on commercial areas and other “open” cases.

Major Blow has committed to returning when he has all of the 2005 crime data.
