Since my last update, one month ago, we continue to be extremely busy taking the steps necessary to build our police department’s foundation. Below listed are a few of the projects we have worked on and/or are working on presently.

Week of 10-23-06
Provide Council with initial progress report.
Attend Department of Justice Training on hiring.
Attend Northview residents meeting on the establishment of a Neighborhood Watch Program.
Continue meeting with vendors, and other law enforcement partners.

Week of 10-30-06
Attend Prince George’s County Police Chiefs monthly meeting.
Met with Risk Manager on various issues affecting Police Department.
Read to St. Pius X Regional School third graders as their first “Mystery Reader”.
Attend meeting with Bowie Town Center management and business owners.

Week of 11-06-06
Continue to gather best practices concerning hiring and general orders.
Completed job description and posted Police Personnel Specialist position.
Completed job description for Deputy Police position.
Continue review of issues related to temporary facility.

Week of 11-13-06
Away on honeymoon.

Week of 11-20-06
Ongoing meetings with various concerned citizens.
Received delivery of outfitted Chief’s cruiser from vendor.
Conducted interviews with candidates for Police Personnel Specialist position.
Met with architect on finalization of plans for temporary police facility connection to City Hall.
