Status Report

1. Skatepark Opens Friday, August 25th

The kickoff event for our new state-of-the-art Skateboard Park takes place Friday, August 25th from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Allen Pond Park, near the basketball courts.

2. Bowie Tour for New County Chamber Executive

At the request of Councilman Lyles, staff conducted a tour of Bowie for
Dr. James Dula, the new President and CEO of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Dula saw Bowie from Old Town and Bowie State University to Pointer Ridge and Church Road. He showed interest in the strategic planning efforts Council has completed and expressed his interest in getting the City and other municipalities further involved with the County Chamber in the future.

3. Rebroadcast of Press Conference with New Police Chief

Chief Perez' press conference was broadcast live on Channel 71 and will be rebroadcast several times over the next two weeks at 6:00 p.m. The event may also be viewed from the City's website as a "video on demand" for those with high-speed internet access.
