Status Report

1. Equipment Acquisition

a) The Information Technology and Police Departments have identified computer notebooks for installation in the original complement of police cruisers. The purchase amount is $83,194.00 which is $5,546.27 per car installed, which is well within the budgeted amount per car (total of $40,000 each complete with all equipment). This purchase covers all vehicles plus two spares. The equipment is available on a Maryland State Contract # 050B6800013. As provided in Section 62 of the City Charter, this will serve as the required seven-day notice of intent to purchase this equipment. If Council has no objection, we will issue a purchase order on November 29, 2006.

b) The Information Technology and Police Departments have identified mobile and handheld radios for installation in the original complement of police cruisers. The purchase amount is $29,941.80 which is $1,996.12 per car installed, which is well within the budgeted amount per car (total of $40,000 each complete with all equipment). This purchase covers all vehicles plus two spares. The equipment is available on a Maryland State Contract # 050B6800009. As provided in Section 62 of the City Charter, this will serve as the required seven-day notice of intent to purchase this equipment. If Council has no objection, we will issue a purchase order on November 29, 2006.
