Status Report

1. July 4th Celebration

The annual July 4th Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 from 4:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. Dignitaries are being asked to arrive by 8:45 p.m. and meet at the Amphitheater stage to be announced at 9:00 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. A hospitality tent will be set up at the entrance to the Amphitheater lawn for your use throughout the day. A parking permit is included in your package.

2. Naming Rights Proposals for Certain City Facilities

This past Monday was the deadline for the receipt of proposals that was advertised for the Bowie Gym, Bowie Ice Arena and Playhouse. There were no bids received. As you recall, this subject was an objective in the current year Budget under the Special Events and Park Operations budget on page 100.

Although there was no interest at this time, staff will continue to be alert for naming rights opportunities and will bring to Council's attention any legitimate proposals to name City facilities that they become aware of in the future.
