Status Report
1. Rubberized Safety Surfacing for Bowie Skate Park
The Adopted Fiscal Year 2008 Budget has allocated $20,000 for the purchase
and installation of rubberized safety surfacing at the Bowie Skate Park.
The installation of this surface will resolve a continual erosion problem
that has developed along the facility perimeter, as a result of intense
usage.
The items being purchased and installed are available through the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance and will be contracted through West Recreation, Inc. The project cost is $17,990.58, which is less than the projected cost. City staff recommends this firm be used to supply and install the above surfacing in a purchase order for $17,990.58.
As provided by Section 62 of the City Charter, this will serve as the required seven (7) day notice of intent to sign a contract to provide these services. If Council has no objection, we will proceed with the purchase order after seven days.
2. MSTC/Melford
The building permit was issued this week for the second 150,000 square foot
office building on Pod 3. It is a twin to the existing building at that
location. Grading and site preparation work is already underway under a
separate permit. The building is expected to be completed no later than
the first quarter of 2009.
