Habitat Protection and Restoration
The
Chesapeake 2000 Agreement
establishes regional commitment to the restoration and protection of natural
resources, wildlife habitat and ecological balance within the watershed. A habitat
is an area Animals and plants require the right combination of food, light,
temperature, water, nutrients, and shelter to establish a habitat. In the Chesapeake
Bay region, there are five major categories of habitat: forests,
wetlands, streams
and rivers, shallow
water, aquatic
reefs and open bay.
