Visit the Bowie Playhouse

Travel north of City Hall and into Whitemarsh Park to attend plays and other events at the Bowie Playhouse. The Playhouse established in the 1970s was originally known as "Theater in the Woods" and is home to four resident theater companies. With four outstanding companies the Bowie Playhouse maintains a busy schedule. As one show closes, another moves in. Most shows run three weeks, but musicals have a longer run keeping the Playhouse open weekends all year long.

The four companies provide a wide range of shows including musicals, British mysteries, slapstick comedy, classic Shakespeare, and drama. The intimate 150-seat theater has state of the art lighting and sound run by a professional theater technical crew.
