Lateral Applicants
The Bowie Police Department is currently accepting applications for lateral police officers.  All lateral applicants must pass a Physical Aptitude Test (PAT) to be considered for employment.  PAT requirements are included in the Lateral Application Packet.  A City of Bowie Employment Application must be completed in order to be considered.   Applicants will be notified of their eligibility by email at least 7 days prior of the scheduled PAT.

Police Officer Minimum Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • At least 21 years of age upon graduating from the Academy
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license
  • Not more than 1 point on your driving record
  • Must be able to pass physical agility test and medical examination
  • No felony convictions

Administrative Assistant - Bowie Police Department

Administrative Assistant:  Responsibilities include performing skilled clerical and administrative work in support of department staff and operations. Specific duties may include performing statistical crime analysis, maintaining social media outlets, and providing general assistance to the department in administering programs and services offered to the community.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of administrative support experience
  • Proficiency in commonly used office software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of methods, principles, and techniques associated with research, data collection and report preparation.


  • Public Safety Agency experience

SALARY:   $41,781
