Bowie Reads is a City of Bowie Education Committee’s reading promotion
program, at Bowiefest. “Gently used” books are collected throughout
the year and distributed, free, to community members at the Bowie Reads booth,
along with information about reading. The Committee is still seeking donations
of children’s books, which may be dropped off at Bowie City Hall between
8:30 AM and 10 PM on weekdays, and 9 to 5 on Saturdays, between now and May
26th.
Community members are invited to stop by to see us at Bowiefest, on June 2nd
between 11 am and 6 pm, and select a book to take home. Bring your children
and help them select books for themselves. Books for adults will also be available,
so stop by to pick up something new for you to read as well!
In addition, information on how to help children become readers and how to
read to and with children, many of them published by the United States Department
of Education, will be available for parents, grandparents and educators too!
There will also be information about local reading programs.
For more information contact the Education Committee at lstern@cityofbowie.org or 301-809-3068.
