The City Hall Art Gallery features photographs by artist Lorraine Warner. Lorraine has shown a variety of techniques in the artwork she has exhibited here at City Hall, including paintings, quilting and collage.
Lorraine Warner was born and grew up in New York, where she became an elementary school teacher.
Lorraine designed cards for many years, which were printed by her father, a lithographer. She has always been interested in art, from designing cards, to teaching art in nursery school. Her formal training in art actually began with Prince George’s Community College’s SAGE program, when she retired.
Ms. Warner She explores digital photography. She is a painter, who learned art quilting to enhance her work, and sculpture to add the solidness of form. Her pictures tell stories of their past. Her work with a digital camera, and Adobe, “Photoshop Elements” software, allows her to work with pictures as if she were in a darkroom, but without the chemicals. She loves to work with the textures of objects and the play of light on them. She is intrigued by tree bark, roots, sand and water on rocks.
Lorraine’s Artwork has been exhibited in galleries in Annapolis, Baltimore, Bowie, La Plata, Laurel, Silver Spring and Upper Marlboro, and has placed in competitions.
