Bowie Reads is the City of Bowie’s Education Committee’s reading
promotion booth at Bowiefest, which will take place on Saturday, June 7, at
Allen Pond Park. The Committee is seeking donations of “gently used” books
to be distributed, free or charge, to children who stop by the Bowie Reads
booth. The greatest number of requests is always for children’s books,
so the Committee has decided to focus only on children’s books this year.
We would like to collect as many books as possible so that all children who
stop by may select at least one book to take home to read. Information about
reading to children, helping children to develop a love of reading, as well
as other related topics, will also be available at the booth.
Books may be dropped off at Bowie City Hall between 8:30 AM and 10 PM on
weekdays, and 9 to 5 on Saturdays. For more information, please contact the
Education
Committee at lstern@cityofbowie.org or 301-809-3068.
