Bowie Education Committee Seeks Nominees For Paraprofessional Award
The City of Bowie’s Education Committee will once again recognize an education paraprofessional who works closely with teachers to provide appropriate learning experiences for students in local schools. An education paraprofessional, for the purpose of this award, is “an aide or other person who is not trained or hired as a teacher, but who works directly with children in a classroom or small group setting within a school.” The award will recognize a person who has been successful in assisting students toward success in their educational experiences, through their dedication and working beyond the expectations of their positions. The Paraprofessional selected this year will receive a certificate of recognition from the City of Bowie, a United States Savings Bond and coupons toward the purchase of dinner at a local restaurant.
To be eligible Paraprofessionals must work in one of the schools listed below, and must be nominated for this award by a teacher with whom they work or by the principal at their school. Nomination forms are available on the city’s web site, www.cityofbowie.org, under Education Committee, at Bowie City Hall or at the schools mentioned below. Nominations must be received, by Friday, April 18th. They may be dropped off or mailed to the Education Committee at Bowie City Hall, 2614 Kenhill Drive, Bowie, MD 20715, Room 203.
For additional information please contact the Education Committee at 301-809-3068 or by email at lstern@cityofbowie.org
