During the month of February, the Young Person’s Art Gallery
features the artwork of Yorktown Elementary School students. This artwork
was created by students during their art classes with Yorktown’s
Art Teacher Tamera Relph, who is new to the school this year.
The following students have their artwork hanging in the Young Person’s
Gallery for this exhibit:
Art Teacher Tamera Relph, coordinated and assisted with hanging the
exhibit, and is planning a gallery reception for the students, their
families and interested family and community members. Yorktown Counselor
Judy Goldberg-Strassler, and Assistant Principal Emma Forte assisted
Ms. Relph in planning for the exhibit, the reception and hanging of
student artwork in the Young Person’s Gallery. The reception
will take place in CR #204 at Bowie City Hall on February 19th at 7
pm.
Located in the entrance foyer at Bowie City Hall (2614 Kenhill Drive,
Bowie) the Young Person’s Art Gallery is a joint project of the
City of Bowie’s Arts and Education Committees. Each month during
the school year, artwork from a school located in Bowie is showcased.
In July the gallery displays the Arts Committee Poster Contest winners.
In August the artwork in this gallery is created by individual young
artists who reside in a Bowie community, or attend a school located
in Bowie. Youth artists may submit their work in June to be considered
for this exhibit.
The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 10 PM,
and on Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, for your enjoyment. If you would
like more information about any of the Art Galleries at Bowie City
Hall, please contact the Arts Committee at 301-809-3068 or lstern@cityofbowie.org.
