Maryland HOPE Initiative
With homeownership and neighborhoods threatened by defaulting subprime and “exotic” mortgages (e.g., adjustable-rate mortgages or ARMs), Governor O’Malley has launched the HOPE Initiative -- Home Owners Preserving Equity. Under HOPE, DHCD will implement two complementary strategies to address homeownership and neighborhood preservation in the short and long term.

Prince George's County Homelessness Prevention Program
This program helps residents avoid eviction or foreclosures. You may be eligible to receive financial help to pay your rent or mortgage if you are faced with a one-time crisis. Please contact the Department of Social Services at 301-909-6362.

In addition there are other local counseling agencies working with the state to do outreach to homeowners and support foreclosure prevention activities in Prince George's County.
