Subject: City and WSSC Interconnection Being Constructed.
Will Provide Emergency Water Backup In Case of an Emergency

The City of Bowie and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission have joined in an agreement to construct an interconnection between the two water systems. The work will consist of the installation of approximately 1,000 feet of new sixteen-inch diameter water main on Millstream Drive from Route 197 to Moylan Drive.

This interconnection will provide water supply backup in case of an emergency that could cause a severe drop in pressure in either system. The construction work will begin next week and is expected to be completed by early June, weather permitting.
