The City Hall Gallery is exhibiting the photographs of Joan Anne Dubbs and Sherrill Bowie for the month of December. Their photos include a variety of animals, flowers and scenes, varying in type, style, with and without digital enhancements.

Joan Anne Dubbs has great passion for photography and travel. Her perspective is that travel broadens one’s view of the world, through encounters with other cultures, meeting people from other communities and seeing the beauty and sadness in the world. Her travels have led her to realize that all of our lives are interconnected, and yet we are still individuals. Through photography Joan Anne seeks to document her personal experiences, capture scenes and events as she sees them and share the diversity and beauty of the world with others. She hopes that, as the work of others has inspired her in her quest to record the world, the products of her efforts will bring joy and pleasure to those who may observe them and, perhaps, provide inspiration for others.

The art of photography is a creative process, a distilling of reality into a vision. The emotion she feels as the camera is activated and the image captured is an instant in time that cannot be repeated. She hopes to share this with others through her photographs.

Through photography, Sherrill Bower hopes to capture some of the beauty of the world. Her images express her love of flowers, water, and nature. She hopes her photos document a kind, gentle way of life. Just a few years ago, Sherrill switched from analogue to digital photography. She specializes in nature and action photography, and is currently working on a collection of Chesapeake Bay images. Her work has been displayed in many galleries in the area and she has won photographic competition awards.

Sherrill has studied at various schools and attended many workshops related to photography. She is a member of several local clubs and guilds.
