Community Events at the Gymnasium

The Bowie Gymnasium hosts three large events each year for the community, one in the spring, one at the end of summer and the other around the holidays in December.

Back to School Bash 

Usually held in August, this event offers a variety of fun activities for children 4 to 10 yrs of age. Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable food items for the Bowie Food Pantry. Activities include:

  • Amusement games
  • DJ
  • Food
  • Giveaways & door prizes
  • Community Group Demonstrations
  • Community Resource Area for parents.

Saturday Fun with Santa - Saturday, December 9, 2023

Santa Claus takes time out of his busy schedule to pay a visit to the Bowie Gymnasium each year on the second Saturday of December. Kids can pose for a picture with the jolly old elf! Activities include: 

  • Moon bounces
  • Live holiday music
  • Face painting

Families with children age 10 and under are welcome. Admission is $3 or free with a donation of an unwrapped toy for the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Toy Drive.

Young Adult Job Fair

The City of Bowie hosts a Community Job Fair for young adults ages 16 to 24 each spring. The goal of this job fair is to connect local employers with young adults seeking summer, part-time or full-time employment. This event is well received by the Greater Bowie area young adults, with over 300 young adults participating showing up ready to be interviewed and hired.
