10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Bowie Railroad Museum
Watch the trains fly by carrying holiday travelers up and down the Northeast corridor. How many different trains can you see? Bring your hot chocolate or coffee and wave to the passengers as they pass.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

12 – 2 p.m., Old Bowie Welcome Center
This is Santa’s first visit to Bowie for the holiday season. Drop by the Old Bowie Welcome Center and tell him what you want for Christmas.

Letters to Santa!

November 27 – December 18
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., City Hall
Friday – Sunday, 12 – 4 p.m., Old Town Bowie Welcome Center

There is a jolly old fella waiting for your letter to arrive at the North Pole. Stop by the City Hall or the Old Town Bowie Welcome Center to drop off your letter to Santa in the North Pole mailbox. Bring your letter from home or use a pre-formatted letter waiting for you to fill out.

Fairy Tale Fun

10 - 11 a.m., Belair Mansion
Join us on the last Wednesday of each month for Fairly Tale Fun. We read stories and create a hands-on craft. Ages 3-8 years with adult. Free

Violin Performance

10 - 11 a.m., Bowie Senior Center
Prince George’s County Police Department presents Officer Alexander Strachan in a live violin performance. Officer Strachan is a graduate of the police academy and strives to continue healing people of all walks of life through his violin playing. He is a long-time Bowie resident and enjoys performing for older adults. Officer Strachan currently patrols District V in Clinton, Maryland. Free. Seniors 55+ only.

Holiday Jingle Skate

2 - 3:45 p.m., Bowie Ice Arena
Come skate with Santa. There will be door prizes, free mini - lessons, a bake sale, and cookie decorating. Free admission with a toy for the Toys for Tots Drive. Bowie Resident: $6; Non Resident: $8 ; Skate rental: $3.

Let the Season Begin at Belair!

12 p.m. – 4 p.m., Belair Mansion
Tour the mansion decked out in all its finery and revel in live holiday music from local favorite, Bedlam. No better way to begin your holiday season! Free.

Holiday Tree Lighting

7 - 9 p.m., Bowie Senior Center
The Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony has been a Bowie tradition for over 50 years. Bundle up for caroling outdoors, followed by Santa and Mrs. Claus’ arrival atop the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department’s ladder truck. Also be sure to come inside and make a craft. Holiday House Decorating

Does your house look like one of the magical homes in Dr.Seuss’ Whoville? Enter it into the City of Bowie’s Holiday House Decorating competition. Homes must be within the municipal limits of the City of Bowie. Entries are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, December 5. Judging will be on Wednesday, December 7 between 6 and 11 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held on Monday, December 19 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Holiday Variety Show Performance

South County Senior Center Showstoppers present a show full of singing, dancing, and comedy. Free. Seniors 55+.

2 for 1 Public Skating

Looking for something to do while the kids are on break? On Tuesdays in December get two admissions to public skating for the price of one. The Bowie Police Department is once again accepting donations of NEW and UNWRAPPED toys at the following locations by December 9 in support of Toys for Tots. Look for the Toys for Tots donation bins at the following Bowie drop-off points:

Magic Elf Hunt!

12 p.m. – 4 PM, Belair Mansion
Alert! Alert! Elves are missing from the North Pole and Santa believes they are hiding at Belair Mansion…again! Santa needs your help! Come to Belair Mansion and become an official elf hunter. Help return those naughty elves to the North Pole in time for Christmas. Free. No reservations needed.

Senior Chorale Winter Concert “Sheer Joy”

2 p.m., Bowie Center for the Performing Arts
The Senior Chorale is back and getting ready to provide the JOY we all need. This year’s concert, enthusiastically directed by Craig Sparks, is literally “Sheer Joy”. Your spirit will be lifted by songs such as “How Can I Keep from Singing,” “Joyful, Joyful,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” and more. See you at the show! Tickets can be purchased online for $8 (plus a small service fee) at or at the BCPA box office (15200 Annapolis Road), open Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., as well as two hours before the concert. A ticket booth will be set up at the Senior Center on Thursday, November 17, from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Come see Santa, enjoy crafts, and a fun Christmas environment at the Bowie Gym. No breakfast served.

Breakfast with Santa

9 - 11 a.m., Bowie Senior Center
This event is back after a 2 year- hiatus and better than ever. Youngsters and the young at heart can visit with Santa, eat breakfast, make crafts, and watch a magician. Pre-register by December 2. This event is only open to 90 participants, so register now. Admission is $5, children 2 and under are free.

Did you know that Santa uses Belair Stable to train reindeer? Learn what it takes to be a North Pole reindeer. Free. No reservations needed.
