StoryWalk

It's Okay to Be Different

What is a StoryWalk®?

A StoryWalk® literally combines a story and a walk. It is a way to combine physical activity with literacy. Pages from a book are converted into signs that are laid out around a park or along a trail. This allows families to walk from sign to sign and read as they enjoy the outdoors.

Where is StoryWalk®?

Bowie's first StoryWalk® is located at the Blacksox Tot Lot off of Mount Oak Road (near Aloha Place) in Bowie.

The current book for the StoryWalk® is Over and Under the Pond by Kate Messner. In this book, readers will discover the plants and animals that make up the rich, interconnected ecosystem of a mountain pond.

StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and has been developed with the help of Rachel Senechal of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
