Disputes

There are some circumstances where a citation may have been issued in error or where it is not clear whether the owner of the vehicle is responsible for the citation.

Police Lieutenant Sean Schwartz has been named as the City's Safe Speed Program Ombudsman. The law states that the local jurisdiction shall designate an official or employee to investigate and respond to questions or concerns about the local jurisdiction's speed monitoring system or a violation. This designee shall have the authority to void erroneous violations. All questions and concerns will be made available for public inspection. This designee may not be employed by a contractor or be involved in the review of any violations. Lt. Schwartz can be contacted at 240-544-5700 or by email.

Questions and answers regarding those circumstances can be found in the Citation Disputes and Appeals FAQ.
