Education Scholarships


The City of Bowie provides Excellence in Education scholarships yearly to qualified graduating high school seniors. Over $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students through this program, since its inception

Scholarship Application Information

Nomination Process

  • Nominations may only come from the schools.
  • Students should contact the guidance office of their high school by mid-January and let them know that they are residents of the City of Bowie and would like to be considered for nomination.


For a school to consider a student for nomination, students must:

  • be nominated by high school principal and/or guidance counselor (Limit 2 nominees per school) Home schooled students should contact the City directly for additional information. 
  • be a high school senior, graduating in 2023
  • live within the incorporated City limits of Bowie
  • have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • have applied to and been accepted at a post-secondary school
  • have a financial need

High school seniors interested in the scholarship should contact their school guidance counselor. The 2023-24 Education Scholarship Application will be released to schools in February 2024.
