Studies and Reports
The Department of Planning and Sustainability has completed a number of studies and reports about various environmental conditions over the years. Some of these have been completed by consultants and some by City staff. These reports are tabbed below.
Climate Action Plan Implementation Plan 2022 -2025
The Climate Action Plan Implementation Plan was approved by Council in 2022. It serves as a follow-up to the Climate Action Plan which was approved via Resolution R-47-20. Please follow the link to read through the plan and explore actions that the City Government, residents, commercial, and intergovernmental sections can partake in to help reduce emissions.
Thanks to the hard work of the Environmental Advisory Committee and the Green Team’s Energy subgroup, a Climate Action Plan was adopted by City Council for the years 2020 - 2025. The Climate Action Plan (CAP) set a city-wide goal of a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030. Please read CAP to learn about our baseline data and the areas we aspire to work on between now and 2025.
The City's first ever Climate Action Plan was approved by City Council on January 5, 2015. It provided insight and actions through 2020. That plan is now closed out. If you’d like to know more about the City’s work on the original Climate Action Plan, take a look at the annual progress reports or view the original Climate Action Plan from 2015.
Below you will find the five most recent State of the Environment reports (or click here for all reports from 2008). The report is published each August and provides a comprehensive overview of the City’s environmental activities and sustainability initiatives for the previous fiscal year (ending June 30). The report provides performance measurements and metrics for all Green Bowie programs and environmental initiatives, including actions related to the Green Team, the Environmental Advisory Committee, and the Council-approved Sustainability and Climate Action Plans.
