The Green Team has an Executive Committee made up of twelve individuals, but there are also many subgroups that function along side of it and welcome volunteers, depending on your specific interest. Below is the complete list of subgroups:
Natural resources hosts events such as container garden workshops, weed warrior workdays, and scouts outreach.
Food, Health, and Wellness puts on the (forthcoming) Walk and Talks, formerly known as Walk Wednesdays and the CSA Fair.
Energy promotes solar and other energy efficiency solutions in the City.
Local Economies works to help make connections with local businesses and educate them on the Green Bowie Business program.
Green Schools works to connect schools to all things "green" including resources, certifications, and grants.
Multi-modal Access and Public Spaces, also knows as MAPS, works on all things open space, mobility, and pedestrian related.
Bowie Gardens 4 Wildlife works to keep the City a certified National Wildlife Habitat and put on annual habitat tours.
If interested in joining any of these subgroups, please attend an upcoming Executive Committee meeting or contact the City’s Sustainability Planner, Ashleigh Armentrout, at 301-809-3044 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Each subgroup is chaired by a member of the Executive Committee, so coming to one of the monthly executive meetings is a great way to gain direct access to, and information about, each subgroup.
The team meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at City Hall (except on holidays and in the month of August).
