The Green Team has an Executive Committee made up of 12 individuals, but there are many subgroups that function alongside of it and they all welcome volunteers, depending on your specific interest. Below is the list of current subgroups:
Natural Resources hosts events such as container garden workshops, weed warrior workdays, and promotes native planting initiatives throughout the City
Food, Health, and Wellness promotes healthy living and healthy lifestyles in myriad ways
Energy focuses on solar and other energy efficiency solutions in the City
Green Schools connects schools to all things "green" including resources, certifications, and grants
MAPS (Multi-modal Access and Public Spaces) works on all things open space, mobility, and connectivity, focusing on complete streets, hiking/biking trails, and alternative transportations
If you are interested in joining any of these subgroups, please attend an Executive Committee meeting. The schedule can be found on the City meetings calendar. Or contact the City’s Sustainability Planner, Erin Oxenford, at 301-809-3073 or email@example.com.
Each subgroup is chaired by a member of the Executive Committee so coming to one of the monthly executive meetings is a great way to gain direct access to, and information about, each subgroup.
The team meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of every month (except January and February when meetings are the fourth Monday due to holidays). The team does not meet in August or December. Meetings are currently virtual. Please see the City calendar for details.
