  3. 15th Annual Back To School Bash

    The City of Bowie Gymnasium is sponsoring its 15th Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 18th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature live entertainment, face painting, moon bounces, food, games, giveaways and more. A parent resource area will provide folks with information about programs offered during the upcoming school year. We ask that all attendees bring a non-perishable food item as a donation to the Bowie Food Pantry. The first 300 children ages 4 through 10 years who donate food are eligible to receive a backpack filled with school supplies. For additional information, please contact the Gym at 301-809-2388. Table vendors are welcome to register between July 1 and July 27. Tables are free.

    Our annual Farmers' Market, which operates every Sunday between May 20 and October 28, is now open! Market visitors will find a broad selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads and baked goods, jams and jellies, cuts of beef and goat meat, ice cream, fresh cut flowers, and bedding plants. The participating vendors maintain a Facebook page where you can find the latest information about their offerings.

    Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and join us for a Country/Bluegrass performance at Robert V. Setera Amphitheater by Annapolis Bluegrass. *Concerts are canceled in the case of inclement weather. A tour guide will lead us along lighted, paved walkways through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10-stories high, towering stone formations, and natural wonders at every turn.   3. Smith Island Cruise

    Smith Island, Maryland was discovered by Captain John Smith in 1608. This is the state of Maryland’s only inhabited offshore island. Today Smith Island Maryland is known for its awesome crabcakes, fun cruises, amazing scenery, wildlife, awesome day trips and of course, world famous Smith Island Cakes. Upon arrival at Crisfield Marina we will board the Chelsea Lane Tyler for a 50 minute cruise to Smith Island. There we will enjoy lunch at the Bayside Inn Restaurant featuring Maryland’s two famous cakes: Crab and Smith Island! Tour the village on your own, visit a small museum and stop at the general store. Cost includes charter bus transportation, cruise and lunch. Golf carts are available to rent. Rest stops will be made en route to Crisfield and on the return trip home.
