The Community Outreach Committee (COC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016-2017 Program Grants. Each year the COC reviews grant applications from groups offering programs which provide a needed service to residents of the City of Bowie. Funds are appropriated by the City Council to support these programs.

This year’s recipients are:
"Take Charge Pride Basketball Program" -- This program is designed to build a culture of success for 6th and 7th graders by providing basketball instruction, mentoring and encouraging academic excellence.

"Rescuing Homeless Single Mothers and Children at Alpha House" -- This program will provide supported, transitional housing for homeless single mothers and children. Training and mentoring will be provided in order to transition these mothers and children into a self-supported life in the community.

"Rescuing Homeless Mothers and Babies in Bowie" -- This program is for homeless pregnant mothers who will receive prenatal care, life coaching and training in life skills, with the intended outcome that they will transition into independent living with a healthy baby when the baby is 6 months old.
