On March 1, a representative of the Jesuits will make a presentation to City Council regarding their plans for a religious retreat center on a portion of the property near Sacred Heart Church on Annapolis Road. 

The idea of a retreat center was first introduced to Bowie residents at a virtual Stakeholders Meeting in December. Under current zoning for the site, the proposed use is not permitted. The owners intend to ask the Prince George’s County Council to approve legislation to make a retreat center a permitted use. If a Zoning Text Amendment is approved, the owners could then begin the site development approval process for the project.
