[ARCHIVED] Bowiefest 2013 is Saturday, June 1 at Allen Pond Park

BOWIEFEST 2013
SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
ALLEN POND PARK

Join your neighbors and celebrate Bowie at the annual Bowiefest on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Allen Pond Park (3330 Northview Drive).

Bowiefest is a long-standing tradition in the City bringing together the best of Bowie’s civic organizations, entertainers, and businesses for a fun event. Around the pond you can sample food from area vendors including cotton candy, BBQ, German & Italian sausages, alligator, and other festival favorites like soft serve ice cream, funnel cakes, frozen fruit drinks, and fresh-squeezed lemonade.

Enjoy entertainment on two stages, featuring Bowie’s own Belle Aires Twirlers, Dance Expressions, as well as The Electric Company rocking the stage with their style of 80s music which is sure to get you up and dancing on the amphitheater lawn. A staple of the Bowiefest schedule, Reptile World with Michael Shwedick, will again be on the amphitheater stage. The year on the Anne Arundel Medical Center Pavilion Stage we will be featuring the Bands of Bowie with such bands as Polaris, with their rock/metal style, The Blue Bridge Band with R&B/Motown, and the Good Time Band with Classic Rock to name a few.

Don’t forget to stop by the craft tables and purchase beautifully handcrafted wares, at the arts and crafts fair organized by the Soroptimists International of Bowie/Crofton. For more information, contact Soroptimist representative, Pam Fleming at 301-464-0610.

Stop inside the Ice Arena for the Business Expo, organized and operated by the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact Kelly Pierce at the Chamber at 301-262-0920 or kelly@bowiechamber.org.

Back outside area non-profits will also be providing information about their organization’s services. Rides, games, and activities make a day at Bowiefest complete. From moon bounces to rock walls and petting zoos to pony rides, there is sure to be something for everyone.
